Please Note

After careful consideration the gardens and grounds at Herstmonceux Castle is closed until further notice.
Our priority is the health and wellbeing of people on-site and the wider community. By remaining closed we feel we are following government guidelines and safety for all.
Throughout this difficult time we will continue with our projects on-site including new play area and we will be undertaking virtual tours of the gardens and castle to share.
We will keep updating our website and social media pages which are linked just below this message, on the right hand side.
Do sign up to our email newsletter, further down this page and you will receive updates straight to your inbox.
Thank you for your understanding and please find NHS guidelines on Coronavirus below.

Contact and Find Us

Please read the following information before visiting us.

Due to our rural location, visitors often use a vehicle such as car, bicycle or taxi to visit the gardens and grounds. Please make sure your satellite navigation uses the Wartling Road entrance and follow directional signage as our postcode may not lead you to the correct entrance.

The Cuckmere Community Bus is seasonal and has a drop off point opposite the Observatory Science Centre. This will still leave visitors with a short 5 minute walk from the ticket office.

The nearest train station is Polegate which has a taxi rank outside.
